Shifting Left the Right Way–Improving DevSecOps

"Shift left" is the mantra of DevSecOps. The closer to our developers that we can move the prevention of a security vulnerability being introduced to our codebase, the cheaper and faster it is for our organization. However even in 2023 old vulnerabilities find their way into new pull requests and merges. We can't continue to "shift left" and hope for the best. Instead, our focus needs to turn to providing the right tools and resources to our developers at the right time. Proper techniques need to be as friction free as shortcuts, workflows integrated, and correction offered in clear verbiage. In this session, let's explore how we can set our developers up for success.

Christopher Harrison has a lifetime of experience upskilling developers from all walks of life and skill sets. He is a web developer at heart, with interests ranging from DevOps to Python to TypeScript to databases. He has regularly worked side-by-side with development teams to help them find the right solution. He encourages two-way conversations, listening to customer concerns as much as he introduces them to new technologies. When not in front of a computer screen he can be found running, spending time with his partner and their rescue puppy.
