Testers: The Unsung Data Heroes

Add to calendar

Data is the most valuable commodity in the world, and testers generate the most valuable data in the product development organization. When effectively tracked and presented, that data can inform release schedules, aid in decision-making, and shape the direction of the product. Connor Dodge will explain how testers can create and use real-time dashboards to analyze the status of agile projects and prove their quality to the organization. He'll discuss what metrics are important, how to pull the data to power those metrics from existing popular applications such as Jira and TestRail, and how to present that data in compelling and persuasive ways. Come learn how valuable your testing data is, how to create a data transformation in your organization, and how to tell a quality story. You'll walk away knowing how to use real-time data reporting and predictive analytics to streamline releases. Get ready to become the new data hero at your company.

Connor studied chemical engineering while in school and did undergraduate research in bioprinting, the intersection of 3D printing and biomedical engineering. While working on his undergrad he was introduced to programming and fell in love. Connor now uses his love of programming and experimentation as a software engineer at Domo, the cloud-based business platform. At Domo he heads up testing for dashboards, navigation, and reporting; some of the most-used features of the platform. He is an avid gamer who loves both board and video games. For Valentine's Day this last year, Connor and his wife bought a new board game (it was his wife’s idea) and ate at home instead of going out. He is the founder of Grailmoth, a one-man game development studio.
