Internet of Things: From Prototype to Production

Add to calendar

In this hands-on workshop developers, testers, and product managers learn how to quickly create connected IoT prototypes that can lead to commercial IoT solutions using pre-certified hardware and the ARM mbed platform. This prototype-to-production workshop guides you on how to employ crowdsourced libraries for sensors and peripherals using a cloud-based IDE and move data from edge sensor/processor to cloud platform as a service using a cellular module. Learn how to build successful IoT solutions based on proven business practices and avoid the critical pitfalls of IoT development. Join industry veterans—Brian Huey, Sprint Corporation, and Michael Finegan, MultiTech Solutions—who share valuable insight on developing solutions for speed-to-market in M2M and IoT segments.

Join Brian and Michael to explore:

  • Rapid IoT prototyping using a cloud based compiler
  • Crowdsourcing libraries to add drivers from common sensors and peripherals
  • Cellular communication enablement to add macro-network capabilities
  • Proven practices for concept-to-commercial development and launch of IoT products

Note: For prototyping purposes, each participant will receive a development kit and data plan including MultiTech DragonFly with ST sensor board; carrier instruction of M2M, sample deployments, lessons learned, and LTE/Cat MTC standards; M2M cellular service; and hands-on lab development communicating over the cellular network.

Brian Huey
Sprint

Brian Huey manages M2M (Machine to Machine) and IoT partnerships and ecosystem development in smart grid, water, and gas industries. With Brian’s business experience and in-depth technical knowledge of IoT and M2M communications, he is able to quickly guide developers to launching their solution in the most cost and operationally effective methods. An experienced thought leader with twenty years of experience in telecommunications across wireless and wireline, Brian was inducted into World-Gen magazine's, Class of 2012.
