High Octane DevOps: Supercharged CI/CD Pipelines

To reinvent the wheel is to attempt to duplicate, most likely with inferior results and technical debts. Within a large-scale organization the true cost of CI/CD is the toil involved when effort is repeated to create the same or similar pipeline functionality. What we discovered during a CI/CD journey is that the key to creating powerful and efficient CI/CD or automation testing pipelines is in not writing pipeline logic at all. The formula that was unlocked is in focusing on the atomic level of the reusable code within pipeline stages. By harnessing the power of creating small opinionated, thoroughly tested and properly versioned libraries, the ability for teams at scale to easily create pipelines by snapping together functionality from a catalog of libraries was unlocked. Marc Jimenez is a DevSecOps Architect at Dell Technologies. He has been in the Technology industry for over 18 years in a wide range of roles from SAN Integration Engineer to Software Engineer to DevSecOps and Site Reliability Engineer. Some of his responsibilities have varied from Scrum Master, Technical Team Lead, to Architecture. Marc's passion is technology where he specializes in CI/CD, SaaS, container technologies, software development and automation principles. He regularly experiments and tinkers with everything from IoT technologies in his spare time, to prototyping environment improvements and pushing for new areas of innovation.

With passion of lifelong learning, Prashant Patil has been leading his life by setting examples, adapting to situations and solving technical challenges. He completed his Master's from Southern Methodist University in 2006 and started working at AT&T as a Performance Test Engineer after graduation. His keen eye for detail, efforts toward streamlining automation, and creative problem-solving skills along with exceptional leadership skills, have earned him several recognitions throughout his career. Seeking the ability to further hone his skill sets, he joined Dell Technologies in 2010 and is currently architecting automation solutions focused on delivery of cloud-based microservices. He has been a crucial driving member of Software Development Transformation efforts and has enabled the success of several test teams within Dell’s organization. He loves spending time with his family, road trips, listening to music, photography, volunteering and fun vacations.
