It manifests itself in employee disengagement, lack of innovation, a toxic working environment with gossip and rumors, and the best people resigning. How can we start taking the first steps away from the culture of fear and toward a culture of psychological safety? Join this interactive session to experiment with a Fear in the Workplace game and start these difficult conversations in a fun way. Experience a number of safety enhancers that can help you, your teams, and your organization on this journey. This session is designed with elements of Training from the Back of the Room and includes a number of Liberating Structures, and it brings together tried and true practices from years of coaching teams in the US, Canada, Ireland, and Japan. Come learn by doing, and bring back a set of practices designed to significantly improve psychological safety in teams and organizations.

Dana is the author of Introduction to DevOps with LEGO, Chocolate, and Scrum Game as well as the Fear in the Workplace game. She is a certified Training from the Back of the Room trainer, Open Space facilitator, CSM, CSP, CSPO, and Certified LeSS Practitioner. An enthusiastic collaborator, she builds communities, organizes conferences, and enjoys connecting with agilists from around the world.
