The ongoing ASTQB "Observatory" function tracks technical and professional trends that are emerging with the potential to influence the future practice of testing./On the near-term horizon we identify challenges and opportunities from cyber-physical interconnectivity (the Internet of Things), from machine learning and related “AI” applications, and from increasingly autonomous systems ranging from robotics to automotive./Also looming are influences emerging in blockchain and quantum computing as well as other disruptive technical and professional changes that will reshape how work is done and how individuals update their knowledge and skills.

Taz heads the cybersecurity education program at Central Virginia Community College in Lynchburg, Virginia. He is a Fellow of the American Society for Quality, the Founding Editor of its peer-reviewed journal Software Quality Professional, and a long-standing member of the American Software Testing Qualifications Board, on which he now serves as Treasurer.
