Now that there is a wider acceptance and adoption of the DevOps model of delivering software, test automation expectations have changed. We now have to implement delivery processes that improve upon agile tenets like speed and predictability while also providing visibility in system health as development happens in real time. The distributed nature of today's development teams working across multiple time zones also plays a role in this change. Wherever possible, it's imperative to automate from a workflow and communications standpoint as well as from an application standpoint. This session will cover the best practices we use to address these challenges and show an automated workflow prototype that breakdowns silos while improving test management and visibility.

  • How we breakdown silos and assess system health in real-time
  • How to integrate communication tools to facilitate communication across distributed teams in an asynchronous manner

With 12 years of experience in all aspects of software testing for both startups and corporate environments, Praveen Thangavelu brings an array of experience to the PTW QE team. During his time at PTW, Praveen has built a vision and robust strategy for QE, created a new service line and has been responsible for building a high-quality, technical, and well-planned organization of quality engineers around the globe. Beginning his career as a software engineer with Ameriquest, Praveen has also held roles at companies such as Yahoo!, Salesforce, and TokBox. He received his bachelor of engineering from Tamilnadu College of Engineering before getting his M.S. in computer science at CSU-Sacramento.
