3 Steps to Grow your Product Culture and Build Products Users Love

New

There is a shift happening. A shift puts the user closer to the center of our work than ever before. We are moving away from the question "Are we building it right?" to asking "Are we building the right thing?" This approach isn't new - it's growing in response to the increasing speed and complexity of competing in today's marketplace. It's founded in Design Thinking and human behavior. A study by the Design Management Institute's says Design companies outperform others by 211% percent! You know the names; you use the products - companies like Apple, Starwood, Nike, Walt Disney to name a few. This isn't trivial, it's big business.

No matter what you are creating for your customer, there is one thing that unites us: Our customers want products that are simple to use and solve their problem. The product mindset is the link between the products we build and the culture of the organization building them. It's the foundation for operating in a digital economy.  In this session, we will explore what a product culture is and how to grow it within our organization. We'll identify the questions we can ask to go further than we have before to define value in modern terms. We'll learn how to develop products that resonate with our user's emotional needs. We’ll finish by applying common validation techniques that you can use within an Agile Framework such as Scrum. Change your thinking, then you can change the world.

LEARNING OBJECTIVES

  • Learn how the product mindset affects the vision of what you are building
  • Examine a modern approach to defining value and evolving to a "Design Company"
  • Explore and apply product validation techniques
