Testing continues to evolve as Agile, DevOps, and now DevSecOps are the new standards for the software the application lifecycle. Great efficiencies have been gained with automation playing a larger role in testing. With a “shift-left” mindset, testing is now more involved, and earlier in the process. However, “shift-right” has also taken hold allowing testing to extend beyond releases and gain valuable data from production systems, which can then feed back into more robust testing that actually more closely resembles how software is used. The combination of these new paradigms has increased quality, relevance, and impact for the software tester.
