In the ever-expanding world of IoT devices, it’s not enough to analyze the code, run your component-level tests, and verify coverage in your controlled development environment. In the real world, smart devices are going to hit a variety of scenarios that your internal testing activities may not have even anticipated. The behavior of the code in your mobile device, network security camera, insulin pump, automotive infotainment system, etc., may depend on the service your device connects to. You could build an arsenal of simulators for testing against external components, but doing so can take time and resources that are always in short supply.

In this presentation, we will discuss testing beyond isolated components to ensure the integrity of your IoT devices. We’ll cover:

  • Enabling access to realistic environments with service virtualization
  • Automating functional tests and managing test data
  • Simulating realistic error conditions to stimulate applications
