The Test Lab & Automation Zone
Kick-off: Tuesday October 1 • 5:30pm-7:30pm
Wednesday, October 2 and Thursday, October 3 • All Day
Grab a lab coat and join us for the Test Lab kick-off on Tuesday evening for pizza and beer.

Then on Wednesday and Thursday the Test Lab will be staffed by Julie Gardiner and Chris Loder. There will be problem solving exercises, physical puzzles, testing quizzes, and even some testing of robots to put your QA skills into practice. While you are there test the code for the Humanitarian Toolbox applications that have become vital resources for many disaster relief organizations. The Test Lab will also feature the Automation Zone this year. This is where you can get hands-on experience with automation. There is no prior experience necessary to try out a fun new automation framework created for the lab. You will learn what it's like to write your very own automated test and you'll get to have fun playing around with automation!

The Appium Lab — Presented by MoQuality
Thursday, October 3 • In the Expo
Many testers who are new to test automation find it hard to code Appium scripts and the examples online are not optimal for helping a beginner pick up required skills quickly to be an effective mobile tester. Thus, there is a need for a curriculum and a code lab that assists with this process and makes testers more confident mobile automation engineers. The MoQuality team is developing a free code lab to help with this at the STARWEST Expo. The code lab will be performed on an online visual code editor, where the user can learn to code in Appium and create automated test cases for a few sample apps on Android and iOS. Our objective is to train testers to become more comfortable with automation and develop a valuable skill by learning to code in Appium at the conference.
