Rest API Testing Strategies: Going Beyond Request and Response

It's common to hear software testing professionals refer to Rest API testing as simplistic. Often thinking it just involves using tools like Postman to send GET and POST requests to validate the response body or its status code. After all, internal components are activated every time a request reaches a Rest API, such as queues, databases, other services, logs, monitoring systems, and hardware, and software infrastructure, among others. Julio will bring you a much more robust approach to testing Rest APIs. He will go beyond these common conceptions and talk about contract testing, testing for backwards compatibility, validating adherence to the Rest architecture style, evaluating token structure, testing Rest API heuristics, simulating external services, security testing, and performance tests. Júlio will also bring a view on how to define which techniques can be used to test Rest APIs and the context in which each of them can be used, in order to bring more efficiency in the definition of test plans and strategies. In this keynote, Júlio will mix knowledge exposition and demonstration of tools designed to help attendees get more insights and actionable steps to test this layer.
