With the advent of DevOps, Agile, and ever-increasing complex technologies under test, the classic, the bloated test strategy document has quickly become outdated. Many testers struggle to understand how to convey complex testing tasks concisely. However, there is hope! There is a way to create a concise, actionable, and useful test strategy for Agile, DevOps, and even the dreaded Waterfall! Janna and Adam will leverage real-world test strategies that they have used and will break down the critical components and detail out how to create a test strategy, no matter what development style your team is using. They will also give you priority-based examples, showing what teams need to focus on first. Leave this workshop with real examples and the steps to build a test strategy template for you and your organization. Learn how to adjust the test strategy template for shortened testing cycles and for multiple types of delivery methodologies. Additionally, you will learn how to identify your stakeholders to better understand how to craft your test strategy so that it speaks to those who need it most.

Working in a variety of software engineering roles, including development, testing, quality assurance, and DevOps, has provided her with a holistic view of software engineering. She has worked on a wide variety of products, such as industrial controls, embedded medical devices, websites, mobile applications, and theme park attractions. Janna has a passion for helping people build high-quality software more efficiently.

Adam Satterfield, Sr Director of Test Engineering at Global Payments, has been in the software testing industry for 20 years. He has a wide background in industries such as military, SaaS, telecom, mobile, healthcare and finance. Adam enjoys leading and mentoring quality assurance teams as well as teaching testers how to find their inner testing star. He has spoken at multiple conferences and authored blog posts related to automation, DevOps and testing leadership. Currently, Adam is working within Merchant Technology at Global Payments to lead the test engineering team to drive automation and instill testing best practices within the CI/CD pipeline. He also is working on innovation within test engineering in the spaces of AI/ML and Blockchain. Outside of testing, Adam enjoys blacksmithing and woodworking to keep his critical thinking skills fresh. He also moonlights as a 10u girl's soccer coach for his daughter's soccer team.
