Chief performance evangelist for SmartBear Scott Barber is a respected leader in the advancement of software testing practices, an industry activist, and load testing celebrity of sorts. Scott authored several books―Performance Testing Guidance for Web Applications, Beautiful Testing, How to Reduce the Cost of Testing, and Web Load Testing for Dummies―and more than 100 articles and blog posts. Founder/president of PerfTestPlus, Scott co-founded the WOPR, served as director of the AST and CMG, and is a founding member of ISST.

Hans Buwalda has been working with information technology since his high school years. In his thirty year career, Hans has gained experience as a developer, manager, and principal consultant for companies and organizations worldwide. He was a pioneer of the keyword approach to testing and automation, now widely used throughout the industry. His approaches to testing, like Action Based Testing and Soap Opera Testing, have helped a variety of customers achieve scalable and maintainable solutions for large and complex testing challenges.

With more than thirty years of experience as an information systems professional at commercial and nonprofit organizations, Lee Copeland has held technical and managerial positions in applications development, software testing, and software process improvement. Lee has developed and taught numerous training courses on software development and testing issues, and is a well-known speaker with Software Quality Engineering. Lee presents at software conferences in the United States and abroad.

President and senior consultant of Intellectica Systems Inc., Conrad Fujimoto is an information technology professional with thirty-five years of experience in the education, government, financial, and utility sectors. An accomplished educator and author of several courses, Conrad delivers courses in software testing, relational database technology, data modeling, application programming, business analysis, and facilitation techniques. He lives in Mississauga, just outside the greater Toronto area.

In software testing for forty years, Dorothy Graham is coauthor of four books—Software Inspection, Software Test Automation, Foundations of Software Testing and Experiences of Test Automation—and is currently working with Seretta Gamba on a new book on test automation patterns. A popular and entertaining speaker at conferences and seminars worldwide, Dot has attended STAR conferences since the first one in 1992. She was a founding member of the ISEB Software Testing Board and a member of the working party that developed the ISTQB Foundation Syllabus.

Technology evangelist for AppDynamics Jim Hirschauer has an extensive background in highly available, business critical, large enterprise IT operations environments. Jim has been interested in application performance testing and monitoring since his days as a systems administrator in a retail bank. His passion for performance analysis led him down a path to design, implement, and manage the cloud computing monitoring architecture for a top-ten investment bank.

Malcolm Isaacs is a member of the functional architecture team in HP Software’s Application Lifecycle Management group, focusing on best practices and methodologies across all aspects of the software development lifecycle. During the course of his career, Malcolm has worked in various positions including software engineer, team leader, and architect. In 2003 he joined Mercury (later acquired by HP), where he worked on a number of products which specialize in supporting traditional and agile software development lifecycles from planning through deployment.

A test manager at FGL Sports, Ltd., Nancy Kelln enjoys working with teams that are implementing or enhancing their testing practices and provides adaptive testing approaches to both agile and traditional testing teams. With sixteen years of diverse IT experience, Nancy has coached test teams in various environments and facilitated numerous local and international workshops and presentations.

Senior quality assurance analyst Paul Maddison has more than ten years of experience in automated testing using a variety of tools. Working with business analysts and testers to identify automation candidates, Paul is continually expanding testing coverage, increasing the return on investment, and reducing regression testing timeframes. He has coordinated the automation team’s development and maintenance of a regression test bed of more than 8,000 scenarios representing about 75 percent of the overall test effort.

Silvio Moser is cofounder and CTO of SwissQ, a Switzerland-based IT consulting company, which produces the Swiss Testing Day conference. At SwissQ, Silvio is a management consultant, test master, trainer, and member of the board. In his twenty-plus year career, he has gotten to know software development from the perspectives of a developer, business analyst, tester, and project leader. Since 1997, Silvio has worked in various consulting and management positions in software quality assurance, including head of the test competence center of a Fortune 500 company.

As a senior agile consultant and coach specializing in agile testing, Pradeepa Narayanaswamy is a self-proclaimed “agile passionista” who strongly believes in the agile principles used in transforming organizations to build superior quality products. Pradeepa has held many roles including developer, test specialist, and quality assurance and testing lead. She has worked with and led testing teams of various sizes and recognizes the benefits of agile testing to help teams effectively perform testing in parallel with development.

Gitte Ottosen is a managing consultant at Sogeti Denmark, a company delivering test consultancy to the local market. A career tester, Gitte has eighteen years of experience in test engineering and test management, in both traditional and agile contexts. She has worked with test process improvement, first as a test architect/manager in Systematic and more recently as a test coach for a large shipping-related IT company in Denmark.

Jeff Payne is CEO and founder of Coveros, Inc., a software company that builds secure software applications using agile methods. Since its inception in 2008, Coveros has become a market leader in secure agile principles and has been recognized by Inc. magazine as one of the fastest growing private US companies. Prior to founding Coveros, Jeff was chairman of the board, CEO, and cofounder of Cigital, Inc., a market leader in software security consulting.

With more than forty years of experience developing software in the commercial and government sectors, Greg Pope has held positions from programmer to CEO. Greg currently works for the Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory as a software quality engineering group leader and V&V project leader for advanced simulation and computing and other energy related projects. Previously, he founded and ran a software testing company and patented automated software testing tools.

Rob Sabourin, P. Eng., has more than thirty years of management experience leading teams of software development professionals. A well-respected member of the software engineering community, Rob has managed, trained, mentored, and coached hundreds of top professionals in the field. He frequently speaks at conferences and writes on software engineering, SQA, testing, management, and internationalization.

With twenty years of commercial software development and testing experience, Regg Struyk has held many different positions ranging from the head of technical product management for Agfa HealthCare to, most recently, product evangelist for Polarion QA. Regg has developed for several software testing tools including test integrity, iTest, and Polarion QA. Dedicated to the domain of test management, Regg is continually analyzing testing trends and their potential impact on the discipline of software testing.

A testing evangelist at Telerik, Peter Varhol is a writer and speaker on software development and quality topics. Peter has authored dozens of articles on software tools and techniques for building applications, and has given conference presentations and webcasts on a variety of topics—user-centered design, integrating testing into agile development, and building the right software in an era of changing requirements. He has held key roles on engineering teams that have produced award-winning, quality tools such as BoundsChecker and SoftICE.
