Rapid Application Development for Raspberry Pi

The IoT explosion has driven many developers to build systems that work with single board computers such as the Raspberry Pi. Because there are not a lot of tools available for these computers, development work slows down. Today, most developers use Python, which has a steep learning curve that does not allow for quick app development and is difficult for developing apps with a GUI. Geoff Perlman describes and demonstrates Xojo, a new rapid application development (RAD) tool for single-board computers, which has an interface builder, compiles to native code, and is cross-platform, making the code you write for Raspberry Pi portable to the desktop, the web, and mobile. Because single board computers are often used to control other devices, Geoff demonstrates Xojo’s support for the general purpose input/output connector as well. See why Xojo allows developers to get their applications up and running quickly.

Founder and CEO of Xojo, Inc., makers of Xojo, Geoff Perlman started his adventure into software development on a VAX mainframe when he was ten years old. Since then, Geoff has worked for companies as large as AT&T and as small as a one-man shop. While working in Silicon Valley, he authored a book on database development and taught programming to thousands of people. For most of his career, Geoff has been running companies he founded, always focused on finding the simplest way to solve complex problems.
