You Can’t Buy DevOps … You Have to Sell It

Add to calendar

In an industry where fads come and go, people you work with probably think that DevOps is just another flash in the pan, another techno-management fad. You, however, know adopting a DevOps culture will help your organization, and you need to be able to convince the rest of the organization. Since DevOps is mostly about culture, it’s critical that you have organizational support to implement it. Ken Mugrage shares peer-reviewed research, stories from real companies, and other solid evidence that you can use to make the case for adopting a DevOps culture. Unfortunately, pure logic and evidence are rarely enough to help people accept the risk of change so Ken shares techniques that enable you to effectively communicate and drive the process. Leave with an understanding of the solid business reasons for adopting DevOps and techniques for driving this change in your organization.

Ken Mugrage

A technology evangelist for ThoughtWorks, Ken Mugrage is focused on providing education on DevOps and continuous delivery. He began his IT career in the early 1990s as a system administrator for Seattle’s first Internet service provider. Ken went on to form his own web development company in 1994, creating some of the first data-driven websites anywhere. During the next twenty years he held almost every position in a software development organization—from developer to director of a global engineering team. Using his experience Ken has consulted with top companies on applying the right technical solutions to business problems.
